General Questions

In Venom CoLab students learn how four different types of scientists (Biochemist, Molecular Biologist, Pharmacologist, Zoologist) study venom-producing organisms to discover compounds with therapeutic potential. Students work in teams in this collaborative AR multiplayer experience. Grades 6-8.

Some students have used Venom CoLab in Spanish by using Chrome's translate feature. To use this, students can right-click on the page and select "Translate to language...". The first time this feature is used, it may say "Translate to English", which once you click on will give you options to select other languages.

No, students will gain all the details they need to know over the course of Venom CoLab. Open-ended questions at the beginning of the Prologue and Chapter 1 are meant to connect to their prior knowledge. Students answer similar questions more thoroughly at the end of those chapters.

While the roles are meant to be similar in difficulty, the Pharmacologist role is best suited to stronger readers.

The system can tell which members of a group have logged in, and if a member is missing, it will provide default answers to the remaining team members.

If a student begins class, but then has to leave midway through, consider having them log out of Venom CoLab so the rest of the team can continue.

For students who were absent for one chapter on Chapters 1-4, it would be best for the group to help them catch up after they return. It would be challenging for the absent student to complete a chapter on their own.
